weBoost Announces Drive 4G-X Fleet Cell Booster

Posted on 7/9/2018 by Nicholas Jones

In an era of self-driving cars and other remarkable technological advancements, it’s surprising how often we still struggle to maintain cellular signal when untethered from wired or Wi-Fi-enabled locations.

And while we may not yet have completely perfected the autonomous vehicle, we have made major strides in improving the reliability of cell service in places where it’s unreliable — even on out on the open road.

For 50 years, weBoost parent company Wilson Electronics has been providing solutions to improve connectivity, both indoors and out.

Our vehicle solutions date back to our roots when Jim Wilson founded Wilson Antenna, a manufacturer of CBs and two-way antennas for truckers and other fleet drivers, in 1968. We’ve now added the Drive 4G-X Fleet to that group of solutions.

The Drive 4G-X already serves over-the-road truckers and individuals that experience cell service issues in their vehicle. The Drive 4G-X Fleet will serve drivers operating fleet vehicles.

Available in July, the Drive 4G-X Fleet is ideal for anyone that does a majority of his or her job from within their vehicle.

What’s new?

The Drive 4G-X Fleet signal booster differs from the two existing Drive 4G-X booster solutions in that the antenna is permanently affixed and must be professionally installed on the vehicle.

Unlike the other two versions, which use magnetized outdoor antennas, the latest version is integrated through the headliner of the vehicle with an RG-58 cable. This type of installation is secure and clutter free because there is no need to run wire cabling through the vehicle door.

How it works

  1. The outside antenna reaches out to the cell tower to access voice and data signals.
  2. The booster receives the outside signal from the outside antenna.
  3. The booster amplifies the outside signal up to 32x, and sends it to the inside antenna.
  4. The inside antenna broadcasts the boosted signal inside the vehicle.

Who can benefit?

The latest Drive 4G-X Fleet cell signal booster is ideal for first responders and for those making deliveries and handling navigation, email correspondence, or data logging along their routes. Staying connected over the road allows drivers to make emergency calls, keep up with email, and use navigation apps.

It also allows drivers to maintain reliable telematics where tracking apps are required to provide information on the location of a vehicle and log data such as miles driven. The Drive 4G-X Fleet allows all of these things to happen over a reliable cellular network connection.

Drive 4G-X Fleet offers a powerful, professional grade 4G vehicle booster to ensure better voice and data with fewer dropped calls, improved voice quality, and faster uploads and downloads.

The booster improves signal by as much as 32 times and enhances 4G LTE and 3G signals for everyone in the vehicle. Like all of weBoost’s cellular signal boosting solutions, Drive 4G-X Fleet is carrier-agnostic, and works across all U.S. wireless carriers including Verizon, AT&T, Sprint, T-Mobile, US Cellular, and more.
